Hi, I’m Adam. I’m a research chemist in the semiconductor industry by day, a professional brewer on nights/weekends, and a husband and father the rest of the time. More than anything, though, I’m a student of efficiency and continual improvement.
I created this blog for three reasons:
- To chronicle my journey toward financial independence and track my progress though net worth updates.
- To serve as a beginner’s resource for homebrewing of beer.
- To share any and all useful tips I’ve learned so far concerning saving, investing, side hustles and life hacks.
I know personal finance and homebrewing normally don’t go hand-in-hand. But to me, the two topics have become intertwined. Over the past years, I have evolved from living a life of waste and inefficiency to a more simple, fiscally responsible existence. At the same time, I began to take up various DIY projects, such as homebrewing, house hacking, and chicken farming. Incorporating elements of the “Renaissance Man” mentality into my daily life has been an integral part of who I am today.
One theme I would like to maintain throughout the creation and growth of this site is originality. I began putting together my homebrewing guide because I saw the need for a one-stop resource for all things homebrewing. Likewise, I will focus my personal finance articles on topics that are unique and have not been covered adequately on other blogs.
The Brewing FIRE commitment
I am committed to not becoming another also-ran blog. I will never teach you “how to start a blog”, nor will I review The Millionaire Next Door for the 500th time. To be honest, when some bloggers force themselves to publish too often, it begins to show. Since this blog is my hobby and not my profession, I will focus solely on quality and let the others give you quantity.
I don’t have time to waste writing content that wastes your time.
Hopefully, you will enjoy this site. I also hope that you may stumble upon a new topic that you didn’t originally intend to learn about.
If you’d like to get in touch with me, you can reach me by emailing me at Adam (at) brewingfire.com. I’m not really soliciting guest posts at this time, but if you make a great pitch I’ll think about it.
